"I
prayed that the Lord would use the Weekend to begin a time of spiritual
renewal in the parish. The result was far beyond what I had hoped. Nearly
every person who attended the Weekend recommitted their lives to Christ
at the Sunday worship. Most have spoken of experiencing a needed spiritual
renewal in their lives. The people are anxious to have small group ministry
started because of their Weekend experience, and are eager for the introduction
of more contemporary music to enliven worship. I believe that this Weekend
marks a turning point in the spiritual growth of this congregation."
The
Rev. Alan Kelmereit
Episcopal
Church of the Good Shepherd
LaBelle,
FL
Diocese
of Southwest Florida
"The
witnesses were not only powerful and compelling but also timely in their
content. God is so great that he managed to lead the witnesses to speak
truth and love to people who only could have heard such truth and love
from someone in their shoes. All of the witnesses were wonderful. The
entire Weekend was terrific. The best of the best was the worship and
extended ministry time on Sunday morning. Waves of people came forward
for prayer and blessings from God. There were many tears of joy and
cleansing as people stepped into an intimate relationship with Jesus.
We will never be the same!"
The
Rev. Michael McClenaghan
St.
Paul's Episcopal Church
Modesto,
CA
Diocese
of San Joaquin
"WOW!
What a Weekend. God is good - all the time! It far exceeded my expectations.
Our parish was ripe for this Weekend. We are a very old (c. 1817) traditional
parish and very reserved. However, many people for the first time felt
safe enough to share their pain and hurt and have other members minister
to them. What a breakthrough. Only the Holy Spirit could break down
those high walls. Now to be intimately involved with Faith Alive gives
me the confidence to say, without reservation, that Faith Alive will
be a key component in the reform and renewal of the Episcopal Church."
The Rev. David Wilson
St. Paul's Episcopal Church
Kittanning, Pennsylvania
Diocese
of Pittsburgh
"It was a wonderful, encouraging Weekend. Many new relationships
developed. Some broken relationships got restored; some roots of bitterness
were burned away by love."
The Rev. Dr. John Barr
Church of the Holy Comforter
Sumter, South Carolina
Diocese
of South Carolina
"An excellent Weekend. One highlight was the joy I saw on people's
faces. People were involved and seemed to be having fun. I think the
Weekend touched the hearts of a lot of people. One woman spoke up during
announcements on Sunday. She said she had been a parishioner at St.
Mark's for over 50 years and Faith Alive was the best thing that ever
happened here."
The Rev. Wilson K. Roane
St. Mark's Episcopal Church
Waupaca, Wisconsin
Diocese
of Fond du Lac
"A really great Weekend. Out of it have come four cell groups of
about eight people per group. The witnesses touched the souls of the
people in a new and enduring way. Lives were renewed. Thanks, much!"
The Rev. Margaret Ingalls
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church
Fruitland Park, Florida
Diocese
of Central Florida
"It was a powerful and great Weekend. The talks, the sharing and
the response from the congregation were great. The witnessing was very
powerful and Spirit filled."
The Rev. Bruce Bonner
St. Mark's Episcopal Church
Bay City, Texas
Diocese
of Texas
"As a whole, we believe that this weekend experience was very,
very positive! Due to the strength of our planning team, and the dedication
and openness of the witnesses, and the wisdom of the Weekend Coordinator,
all came together in a very strong way."
The Rev. William N. Hoezel,
III
St. Mary Episcopal Church
Crystal Lake, Illinois
Diocese
of Chicago
" 'Surely the presence of the Lord was in this place' during the
entire Faith Alive Weekend. The visiting team was marvelous. The witnessing
was inspiring. The Saturday night small groups were certainly a highlight,
with many cleansing tears shed. On Sunday morning, at both our services,
many people came forward for prayer and recommitment. Thanks be to God!"
The Rev. Richard B. Archer
Church of the Holy Cross
Stateburg, South Carolina
Diocese
of South Carolina
"The Weekend met or surpassed all of my expectations. The witnessing
seemed to touch our congregation in a profound way. Many had never heard
a lay witness before Faith Alive. We had a very good response to the
small groups and have successfully started several home groups following
Faith Alive. Attempts to do this before Faith Alive had very limited
success."
The Rev. Donald L. Kroeger
St. John's Episcopal Church
Fallbrook, California
Diocese
of San Diego
"The Weekend was filled with dynamic spiritual energy. The team
overall was excellent. This Weekend touched many lives at Emmanuel and
coming so soon after the horror of 9-11-01 was a strong boost to faith."
The Rev. John A. Baldwin
Emmanuel Episcopal Church
Virginia Beach, Virginia
Diocese
of Southern Virginia
" All of the team did an excellent job in helping us hear God's
voice. Friday and Saturday evening were times of sharing that are now
helping our parish move forward. The Weekend helped us to see that God
is calling us to renew our ministry of inreach, nurturing our parishioners'
spiritual lives, to balance our ministry of outreach to the community."
The Rev. Robert E. Outman-Conant
St. John's Episcopal Church
Holbrook, Massachusetts
Diocese
of Massachusetts
"This Weekend brought our parish together as nothing has in many
years. A highlight of the Weekend was the power of the witnesses. The
love of Jesus came out of every witness talk I heard!"
The Rev. Kenneth M. Roach
St. Luke's Episcopal Church
Jacksonville, Florida
Diocese
of Florida
"Thank you for the fine Weekend we held at Epiphany in February!
It was a smashing success, and we do hope to realize long term benefits
from it. Our people have not had an experience like that for, I believe,
nearly twenty years. Many of them had never experienced such openness
in relating to others and in worship, and, because of the careful structuring
of the Weekend, they found themselves neither offended nor threatened.
The prayer vigil was also very instrumental in creating an atmosphere
conducive to a successful Weekend. The Holy Spirit was very present
at our services that Sunday, and we are using those experiences as a
pattern for what is possible in the future. We look forward to doing
another Faith Alive Weekend, perhaps in four or five years. It is clear
to me that this renewal weekend is an important tool in the life of
the Church."
The Rev. Richard T. Speer
Church of the Epiphany
Kingsville, Texas
Diocese
of West Texas
" Faith Alive brought our people closer together. Highlights were
the spirit of unity and the joy that was experienced. People worked
very hard to learn and pray and are working to move the parish forward.
We have several follow-up plans including a Bible study group, women's
group and men's group."
The Rev. Thomas Beck
Grace Episcopal Church
Stafford Springs, Connecticut
Diocese
of Connecticut
"Our parish was deeply moved, inspired and revitalized by the visiting
witnesses and testimonies that occurred at our parish. In addition,
the vast majority of parishioners renewed their Baptismal vows and re-dedicated
their lives to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are so thankful
for the ministry of Faith Alive and the phenomenal impact that the visiting
team had on our parish. Their enthusiastic and charismatic leadership
was instrumental in contributing to a sense of spirituality, sharing,
love and compassion. This Weekend will be remembered as a milestone
in the ministry and growth of our parish."
The Rev. G. Kevin Taylor
St. Michael the Archangel Episcopal Church
El Segundo, CA
Diocese
of Los Angeles
" I felt that the Weekend was a great success, especially with
all the competing activities in our community on these dates. The witnessing
was very good and very effective. The team was very sensitive to the
internal dynamics of our parish."
The Rev. Charles D. Ellestad
The Church of the Ascension
Frankfort, Kentucky
Diocese
of Lexington
